Last trip to Prague: EC175 from Rendsburg until August

Deutsche Bahn has announced that from August 16, 2024, the Eurocity 175 (EC175) will offer its last trips on the connection from Flensburg to Prague, via Rendsburg and Neumünster. This decision affects numerous travelers who regularly use this route. The train leaves in Rendsburg every day at 9:31 a.m. and reaches the Czech capital for the planned arrival time at 5:24 p.m. Many travelers have expressed concerns about the effects of this attitude.

Reason for attitude: construction work between two important cities

The cessation of the train has nothing to do with a lack of demand. According to the railways, extensive maintenance and renewal work on the route between Hamburg and Berlin are the reason for this important decision. The work that will continue until December 14, 2024 includes the renewal of over 74 kilometers of tracks and 100 course. This measure is necessary to ensure the route safety and quality of the train connections in the long term.

Readings and adjustments in the timetable

Due to the construction work, all trains between Hamburg and Berlin must be diverted. This leads to a reduction in the frequency: instead of as usual every 30 minutes, there will only be one departure per hour. A railway spokesman said that this concept has been implemented several times in the past. These changes also affect the EC line from Flensburg to Prague.

Travelers express their disappointment

Many travelers, including Ana Esteban and Andreas Struve with their daughter Vivian, express their regret about the hiring of the train. Vivian particularly emphasizes the advantages of the direct connection to Berlin. Other passengers, such as Julia Schleiermann and her mother Irina, regret the decision and emphasize that the connection was not only favorable, but also very practical.

Alternatives for travelers

However, travelers from Rendsburg do not have to do without the possibility of getting to Prague. A two-hour regional express 7 (RE7) to Hamburg is still available, from where the travelers can go to Berlin with the Intercity Express (ICE). Travelers from Neumünster also benefit from a direct connection to Berlin at 7.59 a.m., from where the trains travel to the destinations in the Czech Republic.

Common connections to Berlin

If you want to end your trip in Berlin, you have good connection options: from Hamburg an ICE runs every hour to the German capital. Although these changes create challenges for travelers, however, the need to constantly improve the train infrastructure and bring it up to the latest.
