Travel wave pulls over Hamburg: traffic jam to A7 and A1 threatens!

At the beginning of the autumn holidays at the weekend, a massive travel wave is expected in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein. Drivers have to adjust to long traffic jams on the highways, especially on the A7 and A1. The A7 between Hamburg and Flensburg and the city center of Hamburg are among the most staggered routes in Germany. Construction sites and speed limits at 60 km/h also ensure delays. According to ADAC, the traffic situation becomes demanding because many families from North Rhine-Westphalia are now starting on vacation.

The Hamburg airport has the strongest passenger rank since Corona pandemic at the weekend with around 58,000 travelers. The security controls open at 3:30 a.m., but travelers should be at least two hours before departure at the airport. Popular travel destinations are Mallorca and the Canary Islands. At the same time, Deutsche Bahn uses the holiday season for extensive construction work, which leads to diversions and longer travel times. Two S-Bahn lines in Hamburg are also affected by interruptions, since bridges and platforms are being worked on.
