in Frankfurt (or) the worries bubble over the comic well! This colorful eye -catcher, which revolutionized the cityscape in 2001, remains idle this year. The fans of the well have to wait for the lively spectacle by spring 2025!

The reason for this? A devastating thunderstorm in July hit the fountain heavily! The circulation pumps are badly damaged, and all of this happened because the protective pump failed due to a technical defect. A larger mishap that robbed the fountain the liveliness!

The costs for the renovation increase immeasurably!

The city administration raises the alarm: the repair of the pumps could cost around 10,000 euros! But that would not be all - there is a complete exchange, with an estimated cost of around 15,000 euros. In order to avoid such a disaster in the future, further security measures would be essential that would make the total costs cut to a juicy 20,000 euros! But where should the money come from? The budget for 2024 does not provide for such high expenses!

A real shock for all fans! The renovation work, which had to be carried out on the facility since 2018, now add up to over 32,000 euros. More than 20 repairs were necessary! The most expensive individual repair was an exchange of the frequency converter in 2019, which devoured a whopping 6,125.08 euros. However, the biggest holes in the city treasury broke 2021 with over 14,700 euros!

At the city council on September 5, the left-wing city councilor Jan Augustyniak asked critical questions about the maintenance work of recent years. The answer is alarming! The colorful fountain system is a problem child that not only causes splash water, but also immense costs. The city has a serious problem with this highlight, which even the most beautiful comic figures cannot protect from technical breakdowns.

The followers of the comic well can only hope that the city administration will find the necessary funds to present the water features again soon. Until then it means: being patient and waiting for the spring days 2025!
