Frankfurt Airport: Rollbrücke East again after extensive renovation
reopening of the pedestrian zone in the city center
On Friday, July 5th, the pedestrian zone in the city center was opened again after long renovation work. The extensive construction work that took several months were carried out by construction company Bau AG.
"The pedestrian zone was heavily frequented and therefore showed a considerable wear. That is why we laid about 100 tons of new paving stones and renewed 300 square meters of street surface," said construction manager Petra Müller. In addition, 50 modern LED lamps were installed for lighting the zone to save energy and to ensure a pleasant atmosphere.
Thanks to the efficient cooperation with the municipal traffic office, the construction work could be completed on time before the summer holidays, and the pedestrian zone is now available to visitors again without restrictions. The good coordination ensured that the shopping spree in the city center was largely trouble -free even during the renovation.
With the reopening of the pedestrian zone, locals and tourists are pleased with an attractive designed and safe shopping and promenade mile in the middle of the city. A ceremony with Mayor Schmidt and local business owners marked the official reopening, which was accompanied by a lively interest of the population.
