Kleist festival days in Frankfurt: Flood stops exhibition on Michael Kohlhaas!
The city of Frankfurt (Oder) is preparing for the 34th Kleist festival days, which take place from October 8th to 13th and appreciate the 247th birthday of the writer Heinrich von Kleist. Prominent actresses such as Eva Mattes and Sophie Rois are expected at this event. However, the cultural program has to struggle with restrictions, since flood recently delayed the construction of the special exhibition “Experiment: Michael Kohlhaas in the Museum”. From October 8, this will only be accessible through guided tours, the museum announced.
During the festival, the Swiss author Sarah Calörtscher is also awarded the Kleist funding award. In addition, a performance of the German Theater Berlin is on the program in the Kleist Forum, which deals with topics such as a mysterious illness and a collapsing planet. Despite the challenges due to the floods and the temporary closure of the Kleist Museum, the festival should offer new perspectives at Kleist's work, as the organizers assure. Further details about these festivities are on www.welt.de to read.
