New southern connection: Spremberger industrial park strengthens local economy
In the heart of the Black Pump industrial park in Spremberg, a new Südstraße was opened on Friday, which acts as a fresh traffic artery. This street now enables direct access to the southern areas of the industrial park and effectively connects it to federal road 97. This is a significant progress, since the accessibility of the industrial area is improved, which not only benefits the companies, but also relieves the residents in the Schwarze Pump district.
The new transport connection was realized with an investment volume of 4.85 million euros, financed by the program for structural strengthening in Lusatia. Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke from the SPD underlined that this step should create the basis for the settlement of new industrial companies and thus also for the creation of additional jobs.
historical roots and modern developments
The industrial park has a long history that goes back to 1955 when the energy combination was founded black pump. In the 1980s, this combination was one of the most important industrial centers in the former GDR, where up to 16,000 people were employed. It was known for lignite finishing, a procedure that was also criticized for the environmental policy decisions of the then government.
After reunification, the location was not only preserved, but also redesigned. Today the industrial park is a modern business location that is characterized by its extensive infrastructure and relies on sustainable energy supply. Around 160 companies from various sectors such as energy technology, chemistry, plastic, metal processing and paper production are currently located here
In order to meet the challenges of modern industry, the aim is to supply the companies with green electricity in the future. This is part of a more comprehensive concept that should not only bring ecological but also economic advantages.
challenges and future prospects
Despite the positive developments in the industrial park, companies face significant challenges. In particular, the shortage of skilled workers is a current topic that makes it difficult to search for qualified workers and restrict companies in their growth ability. The pressure to win and keep talented workers will be a central topic for economic stability in the region in the coming years.
The new south connection is perceived as a significant improvement in the infrastructure and could therefore also play a crucial role in the establishment of new companies. These developments are particularly important for the Spree-Neiße region because they have the potential to create jobs and promote economic upswing.
The project is supported by both Brandenburg and the Free State of Saxony and at the federal level. This cooperation illustrates the importance of the industrial park not only for the local economy, but also for the more comprehensive economic development of the entire region.
