Light sign campaign in Freising: Resistance to 3rd runway grows
On Sunday, October 13th, a light sign campaign against the controversial third runway takes place in the Christi-Himmelfahrtskirche in Freising. At 6 p.m., pastoral officer Theresia Reisch will speak before the participants move across Marienplatz, where Dean Christian Weigl will make the end. Despite the widespread assumption that the project is stopped, the organizers emphasize that the building permit has existed by 2026 and the plans for expansion of air traffic continuously progress.
The activists make it clear: Resistance to the third runway is anything but broken. "With the light sign campaign, we express that we will not stand by," said the opponents. They refer to the catastrophic weather events in the area in June and demand a drastic reduction in flights. This concern is particularly urgent in view of the current climate problems that are a massive threat to many in the region.
