Holy Confirmation by Bishop Stefan Oster in St. Elisabeth School: Young people experience touching event

a special event: the confirmation of young people

The young people of the Caritas School St. Elisabeth recently experienced an important event: Bishop Stefan Oster donated the sacrament of holy confirmation in the parish church of Freyung. An exciting moment for the eleven firmlings Simon, Mario, Xavier, Emma, Kilian, Lukas S., Niklas, Tabea, Lukas E., Jeff and Nathalie, who informed the Passauer Bishop in a moving letter about this experience. The meeting with Bishop Oster was something very special for her, because so far they only knew him from photos.

The preparation of the firmlings was directed by four committed specialists: Sybille Zellner and Karina Schreiner, both student councilors in the special service, as well as Yvonne Autengruber and Christina Kern, curative education aids. Together they ensured that the materials and content of the company preparation were understandable for everyone. Display images and photo materials were used to bring the youngsters closer to the importance of confirmation. Each firmling designed their own firm folder and was actively involved in preparing the company service.

Confirmation is an important step in the life of young Christians, in which they not only renew their promise of baptism, but also be prepared on their way of life with various blessings. Bishop Oster quickly established a positive relationship with the young people and spoke encouraging words during confirmation. The school choir of the St. Elisabeth Caritas School ensured a solemn musical accompaniment of the service.

During the ceremony, Bishop Oster took a lot of time to speak personally to every firmling and sponsor. Those present were also happy about the warmth of the bishop, who emphasized that Jesus was always alongside the believers and would strengthen them in difficult moments. In addition to Bishop Oster, other clergymen also took part in the confirmation, including parish vicar Johannes Spitaler, Dean Magnus König and other co-element.
