Serious accident between the truck and a refugee Toyota near Aussenerbrüunst

A serious traffic accident occurred on September 6, 2024 in Röhrnbach, in the Freyung-Grafenau district, when a Toyota with a Polish admission was involved in a collision with a truck. The incident occurred on the departure to federal road 12, after the Toyota, occupied by several people, tried to escape the federal police. The police had previously expressed the suspicion that the driver of the vehicle might have smuggled illegal migrants.

At around 8.30 a.m. the occupied vehicle noticed the official at the Philippsreut border crossing, but the driver ignored the holding signals and roared away at excessive speed. On the federal road 12 and Freyung, the driver showed a dangerous driving style, which finally culminated in a journey on the wrong side of the street. The alleged smuggler was on state road 2132 towards Waldkirchen and then on the state road 2113 towards Aussenerbrüunst.

The volatility led to a serious accident. During the entrance to the federal road 12, the Toyota collided head -on with a truck that was about to leave the street. The accident had serious consequences: all six occupants of the Toyota suffered injuries, especially a 15-year-old boy whose injuries were classified as life-threatening. There are also three young people among the occupants, one of whom comes from Pakistan; Information about the other inmates is currently still unclear.

The injuries immediately received primary care on site, and a rescue helicopter was requested to support the affected people to the surrounding hospitals. Fortunately, the driver of the truck was not injured, which is not always the case in such dramatic accidents.

Investigations and witness call

The Passau public prosecutor's office is investigating with the Freyung police inspection and the Federal Police. To clarify the exact circumstances of the accident, an accident analytical report was commissioned. At the same time, the scene of the accident was cordoned off during the investigation, and the B12 was completely closed, which resulted in significant traffic disruptions. Depirtions have been set up to regulate traffic.
