Friedrichshafen: Ferry Euregia is shut down - what now?

Friedrichshafen, Deutschland - The engine power "Euregia" has reached the end of its lifespan! This was announced by Deutsche Bodensee-Schiffsbetriebe GmbH (BSB) in a press release. Things responsible attribute the decision to the high operating costs and the low demand in the winter months. Managing Director Frank Weber explains that the diesel consumption of the "Euregia" is about 40 percent above the other ferries and is therefore not economically portable. The lack of availability of spare parts and the high renovation costs of over 2.5 million francs also play a crucial role.

The decommissioning has immediate consequences for ferry operations. Between November 16, 2024 and March 15, 2025, a new two -hour time for motorized vehicles will be introduced, while pedestrians and cyclists can continue to travel every hour. The operators are now checking whether the "Euregia" should be used or completely dismantled in the future. For further information on the background of this decision, see the report on www.schwaebische.de .
