Trouble for garbage disposal: complaints in Friesland grow!
In Friesland, the current situation of waste disposal causes resentment among the citizens. For several weeks it has always happened that many tons are not emptied and the bulky waste is not picked up. These problems were addressed by CDU councilor Maximilian Striegl in the city council of Schortens, who addressed the dissatisfaction of the population.
The waste disposal in the district of Friesland has been carried out by the Augustin Disposal Friesland since January 1, 2025. This was decided as part of a tender procedure in which the most economical offer was awarded the contract. The district had already admitted in February that there had been delays when handing over from the old to the new service provider.
measures to improve the situation
Currently there is no complete failures, but only late empties. In order to improve the situation, the Augustin company has set up additional tours in the evening and on Saturdays and put more vehicles into operation. In addition, twelve new vehicles and 18 additional employees were discontinued to carry out around 180 tours for a total of 145,000 garbage containers every day.
Technical hurdles, such as outdated data and network -dependent vehicle software, can still lead to delays. In order to facilitate the orientation, printed cards are carried. Further measures to improve bulky waste disposal include the provision of four additional teams and the redistribution of employees and vehicles from other locations.
The company Augustin will not only take over the waste disposal in the Friesland district, but also the waste handling system on Wangerooge and the recycling center in Varel. All vehicles of the company will be operated 100 percent with biogas from 2025, which is to reduce the CO2 record of the waste disposal in the Friesland district, as is to be reduced to friesland.de is reported.
The Augustin company has been carrying out removal for residual waste, organic waste and paper since 2015, partly with subcontractors. Managing Director Rolf Augustin thanks the Friesland district for the trust and looks optimistic about the upcoming cooperation, as well as nwzonline.de reported.
