In Friesland, the current situation of waste disposal causes resentment among the citizens. For several weeks it has always happened that many tons are not emptied and the bulky waste is not picked up. These problems were addressed by CDU councilor Maximilian Striegl in the city council of Schortens, who addressed the dissatisfaction of the population.

The waste disposal in the district of Friesland has been carried out by the Augustin Disposal Friesland since January 1, 2025. The company Augustin will not only take over the waste disposal in the Friesland district, but also the waste handling system on Wangerooge and the recycling center in Varel.
