Police in action: suspected arson in Zetel!

The police in Friesland investigated a barn fire in Zetel for suspicion of arson. A witness noticed the fire in a barn in the Klein Schweinbrück street around 2:30 a.m. and saw a fleeing person nearby. The barn, in which hay was stored, was deleted by the volunteer fire brigade, whereby an assault of the fire on adjacent stable and riding halls could be prevented. There were no injuries among people or animals, but the barn is no longer usable.

The police assume that the fleeing person assumes arson, and the investigation is underway. Witnesses are asked to report to the police in Varel on 04451/9230. The police have also been involved in two traffic accidents in the past few days. On Buschstraße in Bockhorn, a 19-year-old lost control of his vehicle and landed in the embankment, he was slightly injured. In Dangast, a resident watched a car with an unsafe driving style and heard bright noises, the police found a damaged car and a garden fence. In this case, too, the investigation is ongoing.

A similar incident occurred on November 26, 2022 in Wülfrath, North Rhine-Westphalia. There, residents noticed the fire in a barn of an agricultural operation on Düsseler Straße around 03:35 a.m. The police also assume arson here and has initiated an investigation. Several straw bales in the basement of the barns were in flames, a 37-year-old witness tried to extinguish the fire itself, which failed. The fire brigade Wülfrath and supportive forces prevented the fire from spreading to an adjacent house.

The witness heard voices from at least two young people who moved towards Düsseler Straße before the fire. Despite a nearby search with police helicopters and police dog, these young people could not be found. Furthermore, it remains unclear whether the fire is connected to an adjacent estate with a previous fire on November 25, 2022. The estimated fire damage on Düsseler Straße is around 1,000 euros, while the fire damage at the estate is estimated at around 20,000 euros.
