McDonald’s at Fulda station: After 38 years, it is over!
Bahnhofstraße, 36037 Fulda, Deutschland - After impressive 38 years, the McDonald’s branch in the Centhof at the Fulda train station closes its doors at the turn of the year. The reason for this is strategic decisions of the company that do not include the restaurant in the current “modernization concept”. According to a spokesman for McDonald’s, no modern restaurant and kitchen drains can be realized there. The future of the location remains uncertain, but discussions about potential reuse are already underway. It should be clear by the first quarter of 2025 at the latest.
The closure is not unique: at the end of 2023 another branch in Lauterbach had closed, also due to insufficient sales. In the case of the Fulda location, employees are offered alternative positions in other restaurants of the franchise company. While McDonald’s plans to open 500 new fast food restaurants in Germany in the next few years, a new location in Fulda is not planned. The branch at the train station draws a line and opens space for new possibilities in the Centhof. Further details on these developments can be found in a report at www.fuldaerzeitung.de .
