Auerberg tunnel: Construction work with violent cost and time problems!
Oberau, Deutschland - The construction of the Auerberg tunnel in Oberau is delayed by one and a half years and the costs shoot to around 240 million euros, which means an increase of 30 percent since the original estimate of 2020. When visiting the construction site, project manager Christian Schauer from Autobahn GmbH said that securing the unstable slope, which is important for the tunnel portal, has had massive technical challenges. Hundreds of steel nails and anchors were inserted into the terrain to ensure stability.
The extreme conditions even led to a four -week interruption of the work, since the district office has not yet approved the necessary drainage holes. Despite these setbacks, the construction workers show determination to continue in the coming year with the hope of being able to start building tunnel in autumn 2025. However, Schauer showed that the completion of the project is expected to only be realized between 2030 and 2031. Further information can be found here .
