Ice hockey offspring in Garmisch: Cabin problem demands solutions

In the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Olympic ice sports center, parents of ice hockey children complained about the conditions in the changing rooms and showers. Martin Sielmann, a local politician of the Free and Liberals, took up these problems and asked the municipal works to accept the misery. At a session in the ice sports center, in whose foyer recently stayed Scottish journalists, the allegations were loud that the cabins were partly affected by mold and urgently needed in need of renovation.

The criticism that the facilities have been neglected for years is not new. Parents have long been complaining about a lack of hygiene and the desolate state of showers and changing. In an application that parents reported that the changing rooms were "ancient" and renovations would only take place if the affected people laid a hand.

inadequate responsibility

To get an idea of the situation, the municipal works invited the market council and the press to take a tour. A maximum of 4.64 million euros have been invested in the plants in the past ten years, only the rooms for young ice hockey seem to have been left out. Wodan Lichtmeß, the managing director of the municipal works, made it clear that in this special wing of over 400,000 euros in renovations, which leads to the accusation of only investing in the adjacent wave pool, leads to absurd

The ladies and gentlemen of the municipal council, including the technical manager Dr. Sabine Wagner emphasized that cleaning the show was a matter for the tenant. However, the youth club SC Riessersee, who uses the changing rooms, sees itself alongside the parents. Benedikt Heimstädt, the new chairman of the association, expressed lack of understanding about the initiative of Sielmann and makes it clear that he has not yet spoken to him.

The condition of the cabins

Sielmann apparently has the feeling that the excitement is justified, especially since it is repeatedly reported by dirty rooms, broken sockets and mold. However, Daniela Oberfranc, head of the hall department, pointed out that the mold was due to a lack of ventilation in a room. The team built shelves in front of the windows, which prevented air from air. These cabins were only fundamentally renovated in 2019 to improve the conditions.

The conflict between the municipal works and SC Riessersee could be due to the fact that those responsible have different views about the condition of the cabins. While the municipal works are trying to take maintenance measures, many parents and members of the association priority focus on an immediate solution to the existing problems.

The official ice season in the Olympic ice sports center begins on August 31. The stadium administration responsible want to actively advertise the situation and already have plans for further investments, including roof renovation and a new cash register system. "We try to make everything possible," said Dr. Wagner optimistic.

Despite the opposing views, it seems that all parties are interested in a long -term improvement in the conditions in the ice sports center. However, the next steps must be clearly communicated in order to avoid further misunderstandings and to ensure the satisfaction of everyone involved.
