A40 and A52: Mega closures in the Ruhr area from October 2024!

From October 17th, the Ruhr area becomes a stow paradise: the A40 and A52 will be completely closed between Essen and Gelsenkirchen! These drastic measures, which last until October 24, are necessary to incorporate "whisper asphalt" on 95,000 square meters. The blocking particularly affects the Essen-Zentrum-West, Essen-Center-Ost, Essen-Huttrop, Essen-Frillendorf, Essen-Kray and Gelsenkirchen-Süd.

The diversions are defined: For vehicles below 3.5 tons, the path leads over the A42 and A43, while heavy trucks have to choose the A2 in the direction of Dortmund. Autobahn GmbH warns: In bad weather, the work could shift until spring 2025, so that further closures are in prospect.
