metal theft in Gelsenkirchen-Scholven thwarted

In Gelsenkirchen-Scholven, the police successfully arrested two suspicious metal thieves after an attentive witness observed the incident and informed the authorities.

On Monday, July 8th, around 4:50 p.m., the witness led the police to a church building on Buddestraße after watching three suspicious people who entered the building and heard noise that pointed out a possible act. The thieves tried to flee, but the police were able to stop their car at the Feldhauser Straße and Dinslakener Strasse intersection.

When checking the vehicle, the officials discovered considerable amounts of copper and various tools in the trunk. These objects were confiscated and a 26-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman from Poland without a permanent residence in Germany were temporarily arrested.

Criminal proceedings for particularly severe theft were initiated against the two suspects, as well as a third, 31-year-old woman from Gelsenkirchen, who was presumably involved in the theft.
