increasing demand for pedelec training in Gelsenkirchen

The fascination for pedelecs grows among the population, especially in Gelsenkirchen. If you think about why the e-bikes are so popular, it is striking that they not only represent an environmentally friendly alternative to the car, but also promote mobility of older people. For this reason, the Gelsenkirchen police reacted and will soon begin with new training courses, which are specifically geared towards seniors from the age of 60. This measure could not only increase safety in road traffic, but also improve the quality of life of this age group.

Details on the upcoming training courses

The training courses take place at the youth traffic school in Buer and are scheduled for August 29, September 12 and November 7, 2024. On these Thursdays, the participants are trained in a three -hour course between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Particular attention is paid to safety, which is why there is a helmet obligation. It is recommended that the participants bring their own pedelec because the trainers carry out a short check-up of the vehicles before the trip.

important registration information

Registration could prove to be a challenge, since only ten places per training are available. Interested parties must send their request to police chief commissioner Jennifer Petry by email. Feedback takes place from the second half of August, suitable for the summer vacation. It is important to note that the places in the order of registrations are awarded and there is no automatic claim to a place.

The role of the police in traffic safety

The initiative of the police to offer pedelec training shows how important security is, especially for the older population. While Pedelecs are legally equivalent to bicycles, the driving experience and handling differ considerably. These training not only offer the participants the opportunity to learn more about their vehicle, but also to improve their driving skills, which leads to a safer traffic.

contact information for queries

Florian Mühlenbrock from the Gelsenkirchen police is available for additional information. Interested parties can reach him by phone at 0209 365-2015 or by email at press stell.gelsenkirchen@polizei.nrw.de

Pedelec training offers an excellent opportunity for seniors to improve their driving ability and at the same time ensure safety in road traffic. It remains to be seen how many participants will register for the upcoming appointments and what positive effects this will have on traffic safety in Gelsenkirchen.
