Oil accident on the pleiloch reservoir: shipshavaria by driftwood

An unfortunate incident recently occurred on the Bleiloch reservoir in East Thuringia. The passenger ship "MS Gera" may have been damaged by driftwood, which led to an accident. The Marina Saalburg shipping company announced that the ship's rowing propeller was damaged shortly after the departure on Saturday. As a result, the ship became unable to maneuver and touched the reason, with a small amount of oil out.

After the incident, the MS Gera was safely created at the pier, and an oil barrier around the ship was built as a precaution. Heike Anders, the head of the Marina, starts from considerable costs, both for the repair and for lost income. On Monday afternoon, the damaged rowing propeller was raised with a crane after diver had already examined the damage.

The passenger ship "MS Gera" carries out several short trips on the pleiloch reservoir every day, which is the largest reservoir in Germany as part of the hall cascade. The ship, which was built in Dresden-Backgast in 1976 and was transported across land to Thuringia the following year, has been in front of anchor in Saalburg.

This occurrence shows the challenges that passenger ships face on inland waters, especially in terms of potential dangers from driftwood. The safety of the passengers and the environment must always be in focus in order to avoid such situations and react appropriately.
