New organic waste bins in the Ostalbkreis: This is how the system works from October!

In the Ostalb district, an important changeover to waste disposal has started. From October 1, 2024, customers of the company in the Ostalbkreis for waste management (GoA) will have to dispose of their organic waste in new brown barrel systems. The new containers, which have already been pre -ordered by the GoA and distributed to the households, should help to improve cleanliness in cities and municipalities and to reduce the environmental impact of plastic.

The switch to the new organic waste system includes a number of changes that take effect from September 1, 2024. In addition to the introduction of brown trolls and tons, the type of garbage bag is changed. The previous plastic bags are replaced by paper bags, which consist of 100 percent recycled paper and are fully compostable. These new bags should not only be more environmentally friendly, but also make it easier to use the organic waste.

Details for new waste disposal

The new ton offers various volumes: customers can choose between a tonnes of 45 liters and 60, 80 or 120 liters. Interested parties who already use a community bin can keep them, but a special chip must be installed for identification. Appointments for this can be arranged by the GoA.

The collection of the bioma waste remains unchanged and continues to take place weekly. The citizens can find information about the specific collection dates in their removal calendar. The GoA team made provisions here so that every resident can easily view the necessary information online.

Another central concern of the GoA is to ensure that enough vehicles and staff are available to effectively carry out the disposal of the new technology. For this changeover, new side loader vehicles have been purchased that will be in use from the coming month.

  • The new paper bags are available for a price of 3.50 euros from September 1st.
  • You are durable and made of recycled paper, which lowers your ecological footprint.
  • The BioBeuteltonne must be provided in such a way that it is easily accessible for the absorption vehicles.

The Goa also gave clear instructions what happens when there are construction sites in the street. In such cases, the biobeutel bin must be parked in front of the construction site area to ensure smooth collection.

An important goal of this change is to reduce pollution in the cities. The new closed containers are intended to prevent animals from searching the organic waste and, in this way, distributing waste on the street. According to Svenja, Schnell, press spokeswoman for the Goa, is expected that cleanliness in the cityscape will be significantly improved.

The switch to the new system marks a decisive step in the waste policy of the Ostalb district, which should benefit not only the environment, but also to the citizens as a whole. The GoA asks its customers to actively participate in the new regulation and to buy the new bags promptly.
