Customs discovers illegal tobacco in Weil am Rhein: 17.5 kg confiscated!
In a shocking incident on February 19, customs officials from the main customs office Lörrach found suspicious tobacco in a shop in Weil am Rhein. In the event of a control that was carried out without specific suspicion, no abnormalities were initially found on a sales shelf. But the evil awakening came when you searched a drawer under the sales counter and a storage room: Here the customs officers came across an incredible 4.5 kilograms of snus and another 13 kilograms falsely labeled tobacco, which was sold as chewing tobacco!
This tobacco, marked as chewing tobacco, is actually a powdered product that is not chewed, but placed under the lip or in the cheek to release nicotine. The customs authorities have now started the investigation - the risk of the health of consumers is alarming and the shocking find throws a bright light on possible violations of tobacco laws.
