Artistic deception: Rachel MacLeans Multimedia Universe in the Kunsthalle Gießen

nothing is as it seems: art exhibition in the Kunsthalle Gießen

The Kunsthalle Gießen opens a fascinating exhibition on Friday that turns reality upside down. The Scottish artist Rachel Maclean presents an artistically designed multimedia exhibition that is full of ambiguous and witty allusions.

When entering the exhibition space, you first feel like you are in an oversized candy box or an enlarged doll house. Everything shines in pink and light blue, with large-format paintings in rococo style that look gentle and lovely. But be careful - nothing is in Macleans's work.

The exhibition "Mama Mimi Duck" takes visitors on a trip to a multimedia universe that shows motherhood in all its facets. The apparently sugar -sweet babies on the paintings convey a certain scary that is reminiscent of a harmless toy doll that spreads fear and horror in the horror film.

With the help of artificial intelligence, the artist has created pictures that represent the connection between mothers and children in an unconventional way. Emojis look at the scenery, hands reach into the motif and faces can never be seen. The deformation and alienation of the representations give the exhibition a unique aesthetics.

A highlight of the exhibition is the animated film "Mimi", which shows the young beauty of the blond girl in confrontation with age and decay. The embedding in a kitsch-pink backdrop creates a satirical atmosphere that cleverly picks up references from pop culture.

In another film, James Bond and Marilyn Monroe focus on the truth of their realities. AI processed faces, duplicated figures and alien ducks create a surreal and fascinating scenery that puzzles visitors.

The exhibition "Mama Mimi Duck" by Rachel Maclean will open tomorrow at 7 p.m. in the Kunsthalle Gießen. An extensive accompanying program offers guided tours, Sunday tours and individual art brokes until October 13th. Immerse yourself in a world in which nothing is like it seems.
