Customs investigators hit: 105 poles secured cigarettes on A3!
Tax auditors from the Gießen main customs office caught several cigarette smugglers on lightning -like controls on the A 3 near Limburg! In the past week, a total of 34,940 untrained Bulgarian cigarettes were secured in six vehicles. Especially brazen: A passenger of a German panel van threw three cigarette poles out of the window during the control to distract the customs officers. But the experienced inspectors not only discovered hidden poles under the passenger seat, but also in the vehicle structure itself - a total of 105 poles were recovered from the vehicle.
Another sensational caused a Bulgarian towing vehicle, the driver of which underestimated the customs control. In the storage compartment behind tools, 40 poles hid cigarettes! "We assume that these cigarettes should trade should be operated," said Michael Bender, press spokesman for the Gießen main customs office. The drivers now expect tax criminal proceedings for tobacco tax evasion. An additional 27 poles of cigarettes were also ensured during further controls. These measures show once again how important customs is to combat smuggling! For more details, See the current reporting on www.presseportal.de .
