Customs campaign in Hessen: Minimum wage under suspicion - employer checked!
In Hesse, the minimum wage does not save! On October 17, 100 customs officers of the Financial Control Blackwork of the main customs office of Gießen started a massive nationwide campaign to check compliance with the minimum wage. They received support from the local tax offices and job centers. A total of 88 employers were checked and more than 270 employees were interviewed, while the customs officers searched for suspects in various industries such as gastronomy, hairdressing salons and laundry.
First references to violations have already appeared! In eight cases, possible disadvantages of the minimum wage of € 12.41 were found, which are now to be examined more closely. A nail studio received special attention, where two Vietnamese were found without necessary work permits. In the Lahn-Dill district, too, two Georgians had to give up their job in the Barbershop due to a lack of permits. The data collected is now compared with the wage and financial accounting of the companies concerned in order to clarify the legal consequences.
