School crisis in Gifhorn: SPD urgently demands new comprehensive school!

Gifhorn, Deutschland - The school question in the Gifhorn district remains explosive! After termination of the school contract between Braunschweig and the Gifhorn district, the high school students from Papenteich urgently need to know where they should be taught from August 2025. The SPD party lovers from the Samtgemeinde Brome, which demand an additional integrated comprehensive school (IGS) in the east of the district, are particularly concerned. "We finally have to take care of the 'white spot' in the east," explains Peter Albrecht, chairman of the Samtgemeindenat faction.

The situation is tense: more than 800 students from the Brome community attend schools outside their community, over 500 of them in Wolfsburg. The existing schools are already overloaded, and fear is growing that Wolfsburg could also terminate the school contract. Albrecht warns: "The IGS Wittingen and the IGS Sassenburg are at the capacity limit!" The SPD and the party -independent community are now calling for quick measures to end the dependence on Wolfsburg.
