Kretschmer's initiatives to strengthen border security in Saxony offer new perspectives

internal security - Saxony checks the effectiveness of its own border police

In the fight against the continued high number of illegal entries, Saxony checks the conditions for its own border police. The decision follows the example of Bavaria and is based on the political goal of ensuring more security and additional staff in the border regions. This measure is intended to improve public order and internal security and offer citizens a higher feeling of security, especially at the borders to Poland and the Czech Republic.

To determine the right resources, Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer has used an independent working group. This group of experts will analyze the existing border structures in Saxony, advise against the necessary measures together with the police management and the unions and present a proposal for the establishment of a border police by September. The financing of this project is provided from the 2025/2026 double budget.

The Federal Minister of the Interior Armin Schuster emphasized the need for a reasonable response to migration pressure at the limits and supported the creation of its own border police in Saxony. The Federal Government's already established structures and competencies are intended to help effectively increase the measures against border crimes and to contain illegal immigration.

The work of the new border police is being built on existing structures and strengthened by additional staff. The joint search and investigation teams in the border regions and the FKZ represent important support elements to ensure security along the border. Through targeted controls on motorways and border crossings, potential criminals are deterred and public security guarantees.

The creation of their own border police in Saxony marks an important step in the fight against illegal entries and crime at the limits. In the future, citizens can count on an increased presence of security forces and trust that their border regions will be better protected.
