Sunny or rainy? Thuringian outdoor pools suffer from unstable weather
Thuringian outdoor pools fight with changeable weather
The current weather in Thuringia not only brings variety, but also challenges for the operators of outdoor pools in the region. From bright sunshine to rain, thunderstorms and even hail, everything that influences the outdoor pool season is there.
The number of visitors in the outdoor pools are significantly below the comparison values of the previous year at half -time of the summer vacation. The Erfurt Nordbad and the Stotternheim lido are particularly affected, where the number of visitors has dropped by several thousand.
Difficult situation for families and operators
Especially families with children suffered from the inconsistent weather, which is why the number of visitors in the eastern and south baths in Jena has also dropped. On the other hand, the Galaxsea indoor pool has an increase in the number of visitors by 6,000 people compared to the previous year.
Dramatic consequences for the Südbad Gotha
The Südbad in Altenburg and Gotha also suffer from the effects of changeable weather. The managing director of the Südbad in Gotha was concerned about a possibly negative balance due to the early end of the holiday and the unfavorable weather conditions.
The operators now hope for a sunny and warm residual summer in order to be able to complete the season positively. Swimming master Martin Schlenkrich from the outdoor pool at the Schwanenteich in Mühlhausen reports of a strong increase in visitors on a warm July day and remains optimistic for the remaining season.
