sport and community in the district of Gotha

In the picturesque district of Gotha, it can be seen how sport and creative commitment can contribute to the community. Tim Heerdegen from Crawinkel has transformed his front garden into a lively advertising space for sporting events since 2010. The idea behind this project is to share the enthusiasm for worldwide sporting events and give others the opportunity to experience this fascination.

an unforgettable ice experience for preschool children

The preschool children of the AWO daycare center "Zwergenland" experienced a completely different, but equally important aspect of community life. On Friday, June 14th, they were able to enjoy a highlight of their preschool week in the "Eiscafé Fachwerk" in Großfahner. Rico Trenkelbach, the owner of the ice cream parlor, opened his doors for the children and gave them the basics of ice cream production in an exciting way.

The children not only got to know the hygiene regulations that are important for the preparation of dishes, but were also allowed to become active themselves. They discovered a large mixing machine and various ingredients that mostly come from the region. It was an exciting moment when the milk rice and the fresh ingredients were mixed together in the ice machine to finally become delicious milk rice ice cream.

a creative front yard as an expression of the enthusiasm for sports

With his installation in the front yard,

Tim Heerdegen has created a room that combines sport and art. Starting with spectacular decorations for the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, he implemented new ideas every year. Whether the local recreation at an art installation for the World Cup or the Arc de Triomphe, Heerdegen's front garden designed at the Tour de France inspires the neighborhood and beyond.

This year he is planning something very special because he will be part of the Olympic Games in Paris. The front garden will be accessible to visitors until the end of the Paralympics and will receive an additional shine through an evening light show, which reflects the anticipation for this great sporting event.

Community experiences promote cohesion

Both events-the ice cream parlor experience and the creative front garden installation-stand for strengthening the sense of community in the Gotha district. They create opportunities for families and children to get involved and be part of something bigger. The fun and joy that arise from these encounters help promote cohesion in the community. The initiatives of Tim Heerdegen and Rico Trenkelbach impressively show how complex the social dynamics in this region are.

This combination of sporting enthusiasm and creative commitment makes the Gotha district a special place where community and culture are interweaving.
