Climate protection in the county: Free lectures start in February!

At the beginning of the year, the county of Bentheim launched a new series of events under the title "Climate Protection in the Grafschaft". This series is devoted to six different topics in the first half of the year, with climate compensation to adapt to a central aspect. The events offer citizens comprehensive information and practical tips for a sustainable use of climatic challenges.

The start will take place on February 12 with an online lecture to protect against heavy rain. The speaker is Markus Felix from the Lower Saxony Consumer Center, and the event begins at 6 p.m. As a result, another topic will be dealt with on February 20: The lecture on the advantages and disadvantages of heat pumps is led by Hans-Jürgen Janning and will also take place in the Volkshochschule (VHS) Nordhorn at 6 p.m.

On March 20, the participant will receive information about funding offers for energy renovations. Experts from the Kreissparkasse Grafschaft Bentheim will speak at 6 p.m. in the VHS Nordhorn. Another important date will take place on May 15th, when Bernd Damkowski is available in advice on energy-based renovations around 6 p.m. in the Wietmarschen-Lohne forum.

In addition, May 22nd is all about photovoltaics: Andreas Weischer informs about the use of photovoltaic systems at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the Lise-Meitner-Gymnasium Neuenhaus. The end of the series of events on June 4th is an online lecture by Markus Felix to protect against heat waves, which also begins at 6 p.m. Participation in all events is free of charge and registrations are possible online.

The Volkshochschule Grafschaft Bentheim also has further events on the subject of climate protection, environment and sustainability. This includes a fruit tree cut on the 7th and 8th as well as on February 21 and 22, a lecture on the insect-friendly garden design on March 4 and a photo lecture on the natural front garden design on March 11th. First exploration tours to the nature of the county of Bentheim start on April 2, with an information event on February 13th. In addition, a course under the title "My climate goals for at home" will be offered on May 6th.

In this context, sustainability is also discussed in various cooking courses with regional products. More details on the venue and course fee can be found in the program and can be found on the VHS website.

The federal government also promotes the energetic renovation of buildings in parallel to the series of events. The federal funding for efficient buildings (BEG) supports projects for saving energy costs and promoting climate protection. A continuation of the program at the turn of the year 2023/2024 is ensured, and the program will continue in early 2025, taking into account the provisions for the provisional housekeeping, such as bafa.de reported.

This includes individual measures that can be applied for on the building envelope, system technology, heating optimization as well as in the construction and conversion of buildings. Affected people can view the processing status of their applications online in the BAFA portal. The technical project proof (TPN) for applications in BEG EM is available from January 1, 2024.
