Christmas tree collection campaign: Help the youth in the county!

In January 2025, a voluntary collection of disused Christmas trees takes place in the county of Bentheim. Numerous clubs, church groups and institutions take part in the campaign. The Christmas trees are picked up directly from the households by volunteers against a donation.

The registration is not required, except in Nordhorn (City area) and Lohne. The income of the campaign benefits youth work, church projects and the support of voluntary work. The collection dates and locations are on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 8 or 9 a.m.

collection campaign and supporter

The campaign is supported by the waste management companies district of Grafschaft Bentheim. However, there is no entitlement to collection. Households in Nordhorn, whose tree has not been picked up, can report to the THW local association Nordhorn on the pick -up day from 2 p.m. Christmas trees can also be disposed of at municipal green waste collection spaces. Further information is available from the Waste Management Customer Center.

In retrospect for the Christmas tree collection campaign in 2024, Grafschaffers already reported a similar initiative, in which 100 helpers from the THW youth Nordhorn were particularly active. Even then, Christmas trees were picked up "on the doorstep" and transported to green waste spaces. The waste management company Grafschaft Bentheim (AWB) have also been committed to supporting this voluntary campaign. Donations were also collected in this campaign to promote youth work and church projects.

In both cases, there is no entitlement to collection of the trees and isolated trees can be overlooked. Outside of the actions, Christmas trees can be disposed of in municipal green waste collection spaces during opening hours.
