The CDU Vorpommern-Greifswald has a clear course for the upcoming elections: Philipp Amthor was nominated with an impressive 95.3 percent as a top candidate for the Bundestag constituency 16. Amthor, member of the Bundestag since 2017 and for three years chairman of the CDU state group Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, was grateful for the trust of the delegates. "I am looking forward to a fully motivated election campaign and I am convinced that we are very well positioned for the important election year 2025," he said.
In addition, the reigning district administrator Michael Sack was again nominated as a candidate for the district election in May 2025 with an overwhelming majority of 98.2 percent. In the last election in 2018, Sack had reached 41.5 percent of the votes in the first ballot and connected in the runoff election with 79.5 percent against an AfD candidate.
