Car overturns to A20 - criminal proceedings after a second sleep

traffic accident on the A20 through second sleep: effects and prevention

Unfortunately,

accidents on German highways are not uncommon, but there are certain causes that can be avoided. A recent incident on the A20 in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania illustrates the risk of second sleep at the wheel and the resulting consequences.

On Friday evening, a serious traffic accident occurred on the A20 in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district when a driver lost control of his vehicle due to second sleep. Fortunately, the driver, a 65-year-old man, and his 59-year-old passenger were only slightly injured. Nevertheless, this incident illustrates the potential danger of falling asleep at the wheel and the drastic effects it can have.

The car came off the road between the Anklam and Jarmen junctions, hundreds of meters ripped off, overturned several times and finally landed on the roof. Fortunately, both occupants were able to free themselves from the vehicle on their own before rescue workers arrived.

This accident illustrates the importance of vigilant and concentrated driving style, especially on long journeys. Second sleep at the wheel can have catastrophic consequences, not only for the driver himself, but also for other road users. The risk of accidents can be minimized by taking regular breaks, sleeping enough and reacting immediately if there is any signs of tiredness.

The police initiated criminal proceedings against the driver on suspicion of road traffic. It is important that such incidents are taken seriously and that the causes are adequately held accountable.
