Caspar David Friedrich: The return of the hometown in Greifswald!

The chalk cliffs are back in Switzerland, and the Pomeranian State Museum in Greifswald is about to shine with a new special exhibition! From October 16, the exhibition "Himmatstadt" will open, which deals intensively with Caspar David Friedrich and his deep connection to Greifswald - his hometown. Two outstanding works that are presented are the famous “Wiesen near Greifswald” from the Hamburg Kunsthalle and the “Greifswald Hafen” from the old National Gallery in Berlin. The articles by artist Cindy Schmidt, who also dealt with Friedrich's domestic meadows and childhood, are at least as exciting.

The official opening will take place on Saturday, October 19, at 3 p.m., and during this period the entry from 2 to 4 p.m. is free! The exhibition runs until January 5, 2025. If you want to experience the tours through the exhibition, you should quickly access - some appointments are already fully booked! Details on tours and ticket bookings can be found on the museum's website. An absolute highlight for those interested in art and culture who want to immerse themselves in this fascinating world!
