Greifswald Boddenwimmen celebrates 103th anniversary
Last Saturday the traditional Greifswald bodden swimming took place, in which over 200 athletes from various regions took part. The starting point was in Ludwigsburg in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district, and the goal was in Wieck near Greifswald. Among the participants was Janik Rose in Berlin, who completed the 2,600 meter route in impressive 42 minutes and 58 seconds. In the women, Antonia Karow from Dresden prevailed as the winner by mastering the route in 48 minutes and 59 seconds.

The bodden swimming took place at a water temperature of 19 degrees and strong wind with the strength four, which made some swimmers troubled. Five participants had to end the race prematurely because they had to fight with the waves. Despite the adverse conditions, the response to the competition was overwhelming. The security of the swimmers was guaranteed during the floating float because the German Life Rescue Society (DLRG), the Technical Relief Agency (THW) and the fire brigade were used with around 20 boats. These measures are intended to ensure that all participants can complete the race safely and without incidents.
