Tragic accident on the B105: fatal collision demands a human life

A serious traffic accident occurred on July 11, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. on the B105 near Sundhagen. A 69-year-old driver of a Mitsubishi overtook a van and collided head-on with an oncoming Fiat who was controlled by a 56-year-old woman. The accident tragically led to the death of the 69-year-old driver, who succumbed to his injuries in the Greifswald University Hospital. The driver of the Fiat was seriously, but not life -threatening and also brought to the clinic.

The entire community in Sundhagen was deeply affected by the tragedy that occurred on the busy street. The collision led to considerable damage to property on both vehicles, which was estimated at around 30,000 euros. The local fire brigade, emergency services and the police were on site with numerous emergency vehicles to help the injured and secure the scene of the accident.

The cause of the accident is currently still being determined, with an expert in the DEKRA being consulted to bring light into the dark. The B105 had to be completely blocked for about three hours in order to be able to carry out the rescue and recovery measures.

It is an unfortunate incident that underlines the importance of safe and responsible behavior in road traffic. The municipality of Sundhagen mourns the loss of the 69-year-old driver and wishes the injured driver a quick recovery.
