Friedrich Degenkolb: Historical art trips through Hohndorf and Greiz

Hohndorf, Deutschland - in Hohndorf, Greiz district, inspires a fascinating exhibition with over 50 historical pictures and sketches by the home artist Friedrich (Fritz) Degenkolb, which can be seen in the old school until the end of the month. The works show impressive views of Hohndorf, Greiz and surrounding places as well as portraits from the past. The exhibits were put together by Henry Flach, who has some of the pictures himself and received numerous loan from regional art collectors and from the fund of the Greizer Museums.

Degenkolb, who studied in Jena from 1934 to 1937, worked as a teacher in Hohndorf and always had a talent for drawing during his career. His impressive representations of the region, especially from the 1930s until 1993, are not only a nostalgic review for the artist's former students, but also a wonderful insight into the local history. Interested parties can visit the exhibition according to the services in the Hohndorf church or make an appointment with Henry Flach on 0171/97 08 423.
