Discover art and architecture: Guided tour along Leipziger Straße on June 29, 2024
Discover new ways: Art and architecture along Leipziger StrasseArt in building has the ability to not only decorate cities, but also to reflect their history and developments. Next Saturday, June 29, 2024, the Mitte Museum invites all interested parties to a very special tour along Leipziger Strasse. The focus is on the often overlooked but still important works of art that shape the cityscape and give an insight into the architectural art of the GDR.
With the district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, as the initiator of this special event, the tour will start at the State Council building at 11 a.m. From there it goes along Leipziger Straße, past important historical buildings, to the message of the Czech Republic at Wilhelmstrasse 44. The route extends over around 3 km and is covered in about 1.5 hours.
The tour is led by Edouard Compere, a renowned art historian and Campi Fellow in the Mitte Museum. He will bring the artistic traces of urban history closer to the participants and, in particular, go into architectural art.
This event, which is organized in cooperation with the fields of urban culture and culture and history of the Mitte district, not only offers a cultural view of the city, but also the opportunity to experience and understand the connection between art, architecture and history.
