U-railway closure in Hamburg: up to 20 minutes longer travel times!
The Hamburg U2 subway line remains closed in one section from today, January 16, 2025, until January 26, 2025. The closure affects the route from Niendorf Markt to Niendorf North. The reason for the interruption is extensive construction work to renew more than one kilometer tracks and three switches.
affected stops are Niendorf Markt, Joachim-Mähl-Straße, Schippelsweg and Niendorf Nord. During the construction work, replacement traffic is set up by buses, whereby passengers have to expect an extension of the travel time of up to 20 minutes. Further information is available on the website www.hvv.de, in the HVV app and on the notices on site. In the future, the elevator is planning to display the exact location of the next subway and information on the loading of buses and trains. In 2024, an estimated 495 million people used the U-Bahn and Buses of the Hochbahn, which corresponds to an increase of around six percent.
further construction work in the Hamburg subway network
In the past, construction work on the U1 subway line also took place in parallel to the work on the U2. These were carried out between the Wandsbek Garden City and Farmsen stops. A period from Thursday, October 10th to Sunday, October 13th, had been set for this. Substitute buses were also provided here because the tracks and the course were renewed. The aim of these measures was to preserve the high security standard of the Hamburg subway network and to improve infrastructure quality. The necessary extension of the travel times was also up to 20 minutes, depending on the traffic situation. Information about these restrictions were available through notices, announcements and via the HVV app, such as Hochbahn.de reported.Details | |
