Hameln, Niedersachsen, Deutschland - On September 29, 1874, the first football game took place in Germany in Braunschweig. This event marks the beginning of a long football tradition in Germany, which also caused roots in the city of Hameln. The Schiller-Gymnasium in Hameln played a crucial role in the early history of football when a loose organized primer football club (PFC) was founded in 1896. At the beginning, naged prejudices from German gymnasts, who described the sport as "footlümmelei", the Hamelen students remained loyal to football and played on the old parade ground.
Historical photo documents show that students of the Tertia (eight and ninth graders) can already be seen on the square in 1900. The football club Gymnasii Hamelensis (FCGH) was launched in 1906, but the association turned to rowing in 1914 without the reasons for this. Over the years, numerous other football clubs and departments have been created in Hameln, including FC Saxonia Hameln, which was founded in 1907. On May 27, 1908, FC Saxonia defined its goal with the sentence: "Hegen and maintain German football".
