Hameln says Tschüss about old clothing containers: Focus on garbage problems!

The city of Hameln will no longer approved old clothing containers in the public traffic area. This step takes place because the containers' parking spaces are often misused as illegal storage locations for garbage. Political reservations have arisen after there was initially positive consent to the containers. In addition, recyclable textiles have not been disposed of in household waste since the beginning of the year.

At the moment, only a private company has set up old clothing containers in the city area. The city plans to no longer grant permits for several container locations, including Pappelallee, Eintrachtweg and Wilhelm-Lampe-Straße and numerous other locations. Glass containers, on the other hand, remain.

Alternative disposal routes and upgrading the locations

The containers on private areas are not affected, but the city has no overview of them. The EU directive only plays an indirect role in the city's considerations. The district of Hameln-Pyrmont is responsible for the implementation of the EU waste framework directive. The city sees no bottleneck in the old dress disposal; Alternative disposal routes via pick -up systems, the waste disposal park or charitable collection points are available.

The city expects the reduction to reduce the impression of a “collection point for everything”. Fewer container types should also reduce the risk of confusion. In addition, the city plans to optically upgrade the locations through greening and soil marking. However, this happens without allocation to charitable organizations or stricter requirements for commercial collectors. Illegal garbage deposits can also be determined on containers of charitable organizations, and strict requirements would cause additional control and administrative effort for the city.

The committee for law and security will discuss the topic again on June 18. Further developments on old clothing incorporation show that, for example, a functioning collection system with non -profit and commercial collectors in Dresden, for example. In Jena, separate old clothing containers have been set up at around 150 locations since 2012, while other cities such as Erfurt and Chemnitz have not planned to grasp old textiles, such as MDR reported.
