Demolition of the cult kiosk in Bockum-Hövel: A piece of history disappears
The city of Hamm is planning to demolish the dilapidated kiosk building on the corner of Berliner Straße/Hebbelstraße, which has been empty since the end of 2021. Originally built in the 1920s and expanded in the 90s, the "Alex Steinbude" kiosk was recently no longer able to find new operators after the lease was ended at the request of the previous operator. The poor condition of the building now forces the city to decide to demolish the property without having to decide the property so far according to information from www.wa.de .
As early as 1992, the kiosk was threatened by the closure, but committed citizens were successfully protested against the demolition and even achieved an expansion of the sales area. Local home nurse Günter Bachtrop describes the Büdchen as "pleasure oases" and remembers the times when kiosks were social meeting points. However, this place of worship is now in front of the final and could lose another piece of the traditional drinking hall culture in the Ruhr area.
