Popular Lupia ferry in Hamm: forced break until August due to renovation work

In the middle of summer vacation, forced break for lip ferry lupia

In the middle of the ongoing summer vacation, the Lippe ferry Lupia in Hamm is convicted of a forced break. This currently has significant effects for many users of the popular ferry.

The forced break was required for security reasons, since renovation measures are carried out on the telecommunications plant at Oberwerries Castle. As a result, the ferry button was unable to function. The Lippe ferry Lupia is therefore expected to be out of operation for a period of three weeks, starting on Friday, July 12th. Only from August 2 should cyclists and walkers have the opportunity to move independently from one to the other bank.

Although the Lupia ferry has already been put out of action in the past due to drift material and floods, this is the first time that it has to pause due to the telecommunications system. The ferry was officially called "Lupia" in April 2013. This Roman name for the Lippe was chosen because the ferry is part of the Römer-Lippe route. Similar to the Romans, the passengers of the lip ferry have to use their muscle strength because there is no ferryman.

The forced break of the Lippe ferry Lupia shows the importance of infrastructure care and maintenance for the safe use of ferries and other means of transport. Especially over a period in which many people use the ferry to enjoy their free time, it is important that necessary maintenance work is carried out to ensure the safety of passengers.

Due to the current forced break, however, the users of the ferry will temporarily rely on alternative transport options. It remains to be hoped that the renovation work will be completed on time so that the Lupia ferry can soon be put back into operation to ensure the usual service. - nag
