Stolen marble plate: Petra's mother grave and grave robber on the run

Sometimes things happen that shakes us deeply and leave them questioningly. Petra Murzo also had to experience this when she recently visited her mother's grave. In the Bockum cemetery in Hamm, where her mother was buried 19 years ago, Petra suddenly stood in front of an open grave.

The lack of the grave slab, the disappearance of the roses and the emptiness that she felt when she entered the place left it stunned. Petra intended to put down flowers for her mother's 109th birthday, but instead she found herself with a stolen memorial stone and a questioning heart.

The police in Hamm, represented by Hendrik Heine, confirms the assumption that opening graves is a serious crime. Last year there were 12 cases of grave decorations that were stolen, but this was the first case of a stolen grave slab. The investigation is underway, and hopefully the culprit will be found.

For Petra Murzo, however, this is not just theft, but a violation of her mother's grief and calm. She has no financial means to buy a new grave slab and hopes that the thief will bring her back out of feelings

The city of Hamm assures that in the case of Petra Murzo she will act on a goodwill base to help her redesign the grave. In principle, all changes in cemeteries must be approved to ensure that stolen commemorative plaques cannot be reused.

This incident is only one of many in which the sacrality and resting places are disturbed. It is important that we, as a society, respectfully deal with the last resting places and do not tolerate crimes like this. Everyone deserves to rest in peace and we have to work together to ensure this. - nag
