Severe storm leads to numerous police operations in Hessen

violent storms provide numerous missions in Hesse

The residents in Hesse were surprised by violent storms on Wednesday evening, which led to a variety of police operations. Offenbach and the surrounding regions were particularly affected, where mainly depressed gully lids were reported on the streets. In Dietzenbach, an S-Bahn underpass had to be temporarily closed when water masses flooded.

in Hanau and in the Mainz-Kinzig district there were a total of around 30 missions due to the storm. In addition to flooded roads and fallen trees, the police also reported dangerous aquaplaning situations that led to traffic accidents.

emergency services were also active on the A45 and A66 motorways to clear five fallen trees from the lanes and thus ensure the safety of road users. On federal road 43a between Hanau-Hauptbahnhof and Hanau-Wolfgang, the water even stood on a distance of around 200 meters, which led to the temporary closure of the road towards Fulda.

Fortunately, despite the numerous missions and damage, the police reported no injuries in connection with the storms. However, the population is urgently called on to be careful in heavy rains and to protect themselves from the dangers of violent storms.
