tragedy in the coal trove of Rydultowy

rydultowy, Poland - a tragic mine accident occurred in the Rydultowy coal pit. A miner was killed and another is missing. The accident was triggered by a mountain strike, which took place at a depth of 1150 meters underground at 8:16 a.m. The exact effects of the mountain strike on the mine are currently still unclear.

At the time of the accident, 78 miners were deployed in the affected area. The rescue teams were able to bring 76 miners to safety during the afternoon, with 17 injuries to suffer. At first, no contact could be made to two other miners. Finally, the rescuers managed to penetrate one of the two. Unfortunately, only the lifeless miner could be recovered. The search for the second missing miner was initially interrupted due to further seismic activities.

mountain strikes are a significant danger to miners because they are sudden movements and collapsed in rock codes. They are not caused by tectonically triggered earthquakes, but often by sprinkling in mining. The unpredictability of mountain strikes makes them a serious security risk for miners and the residents of mining areas.
