Hannover (dpa) - In a clear statement, Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) emphasizes that Olaf Scholz continues to hold the leading position within the SPD. "Olaf Scholz is number one in the SPD. I believe that I am also agreed with a very large majority of the SPD members," said the German press agency in Hanover.

The current political situation is characterized by tensions within the government coalition.
