New era at the MHH: Prof. Dr. Hilfiker-Kleiner becomes President!

Hannover, Deutschland - The Hannover Medical School (MHH) will be made by Prof. Dr. Denise Hilfiker-Kleiner headed, as the Lower Saxony state government confirmed yesterday. She succeeds Prof. Dr. Michael Manns, who retires at the end of December 2024. Hilfiker-Kleiner, who is currently dean of the medical faculty of the Philipps University in Marburg, returned to Hanover, where she was appointed professor of molecular cardiology in 2008 and previously worked as a research Dean.

Lower Saxony's Minister of Science Falko Mohrs praised Hilfiker-Kleiner as a "recognized expert" in her field, while Professor Manns emphasized that the decision was an "excellent choice". Hilfiker-Kleiner himself expressed a positive statement about her return and announced that the MHH was based on future challenges such as digitization, hospital reform and innovative research initiatives. Their goal is to further develop the university and to work closer together with the members of the MHH and the local institutions. Further details are here to be found.
