Weidener Marlene Gomez-Göggel fifth at triathlon championships in Hanover
The German triathlon championship was recently held in Hanover and attracted numerous athletes, including the talented Marlene Gomez-Göggel. The Weiden native competed in the sprint distance, which consists of a swimming of 750 meters, a bike route of 20 kilometers and a final run over 5 kilometers. Their time of 58:04 minutes was enough for fifth place, only 16 seconds they separated from the podium.
In the middle of hard competition, including experienced Olympic participants, Gomez-Göggel showed a respectable performance. Annika Koch secured first place with a time of 57:33 minutes. The Olympic -based Lisa Tertsch, who took second place with 57:48 minutes, was also on the winner podium. The impressive Laura Lindemann, who had taken part in the Olympic Games in Paris, landed in third place and was only minimally faster than Gomez-Göggel.

The male participants also performed high performance, with Justus Nieschlag with a time of 50:50 minutes. He showed why he was one of the best triathletes in Germany and confidently prevailed against Henry Christopher Graf, who finished 51:04 minutes.
The championship in Hanover offered a stage for the best triathletes in the country and was a crucial step on the way to further international competitions.
