Small ideas, great effect: 12 projects strengthen the Havelland

funding for community projects in the Havelland

A new step to strengthen civic engagement and to promote social infrastructure in the Havelland region was decided. In its current action plan of the regional budget, the local action group (LAG) has provided over 100,000 euros for various small projects for 2024. This funding comes from European means and is primarily intended to improve the quality of life in rural areas.

diverse initiatives for all generations

The selected projects cover a wide range and show the commitment of the community. This includes, among other things, the purchase of wooden bushings that are used in community back houses in Marquede and Grütz. The redesign of the village entrance in Garlitz promotes not only aesthetics, but also the sense of community. A playground in Damme is also built, while the generation playground in Kotzen is renewed to offer even more attractions for children and adults.

workshop for creative participation

The creative approaches, such as the design of planters by children and adolescents, are particularly exciting in a workshop with the Mikado e.V. at the bathing area in Tremmen. Such initiatives help promote the awareness of the awareness of the young generation and to develop a sense of community. In addition, the daycare center in Stechow is supported in order to make the facility more inclusive and to enable the recording of a blind child.

growth and framework conditions of the funding

Since 2019, almost 60 smaller projects in the region have been successfully implemented as part of the LEADER EU funding program. The new focus under the name "Regional Budget" continues to open up opportunities for smaller initiatives that can enrich the social and economic structure in the Havelland. "The positive feedback and number of projects submitted show that the potential in the Havelland is enormous," says Magdalena Köhne, who heads this development project.

Leader program: An important partner for rural development

The LEADER program of the European Union pursues the goal of promoting the development of rural spaces by integrating a wide variety of actors. "The connection of actions on the development of the rural economy" - according to the extended importance of the abbreviation Leader - plays a crucial role in the future of the region. With the support of municipalities, companies, associations and private individuals, important projects can be implemented that benefit the entire community.

A look into the future

The next request to submit project applications as part of the regional budget will take place in the first half of 2025. With this continuous funding from the LAG Havelland, further significant accents can be set for sustainable and lively rural development. The support of small projects is not only a building block to improve the quality of life, but also a sign of the cohesion and commitment of the citizens in the region.
