The famous French writer Sidonie Perceval (Isabelle Huppert) travels to Japan to celebrate the re -publication of her first book. This trip takes you to Kyoto, a city full of shrines and temples, which she explores together with her publisher. While she enjoys the beauty of the Japanese spring blossom, Sidonie slowly opens Kenzo (Tsuyoshi Ihara). But her late husband Antoine (August Diehl) accompanies her as a spirit and holds her back.
The story is about loss, grief and strength to find love. The tender rapprochement between Sidonie and Kenzo is carried by the extraordinary acting performance by Isabelle Huppert.
director Élise Girard creates a moving work with "Madame Sidonie in Japan" about coping with loss and recovery of love. The 95-minute film trip takes the audience into a world full of poetry and emotions.
